Katherine Canty

Katherine Canty is CBC Radio's National Reporter in Quebec. As such, she has provided coverage of Quebec's battle to control the Hells Angels, the release of a Canadian hostage in Iraq, the firebombing of a Montreal Jewish school and other stories leading the news. Her series "The Empty Pew" highlighted the crisis facing the mainline churches in Quebec. Another series looked at divisions within Montreal's Rwandan community, ten years after the Rwandan genocide.

In 2003, she worked as a producer in Washington, coordinating CBC's special coverage of the war in Iraq.

Katherine has more than two decades experience as a journalist. She has made documentaries in both French and English and has worked as a news reader, a host and a television and radio reporter.

Katherine has an honours B.A. in history from the University of Toronto. She has also studied at l'Universite d'Aix-Marseille and l'Universite de Montreal.
