Featuring live Doppler Radar, the CBC Winnipeg Forecast Centre allows John to provide the most reliable forecasts, storm tracking and weather warnings.

John's love of all things weather started when he was the young son of a fighter pilot. His Dad would return from work in his flying suit with his helmet under his arm, to John’s inquiring mind, wondering what is was like to fly through those clouds.

John eventually learned to fly and became Winnipeg's only pilot/traffic reporter on radio logging almost 8,000 flying hours over 10 years.

He earned a certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2007, achieving an Academic Excellence Award. He is endorsed by the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society and is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.

John has also earned the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval for Weathercasting.

John is also the Honorary Colonel of 2 Canadian Air Division, so Winnipeggers will probably see him around town in a flight suit or Royal Canadian Air Force uniform.

John and his wife Kim are an active couple who love the outdoors. They enjoying camping, kayaking, golf, tennis, hiking and in the winter take part in snowmobiling and downhill skiing.
