A new coronavirus from China has now killed nine people and infected at least 440 others.
It appears to have originated at a market selling seafood and live animals in Wuhan, a city of 11 million people.
The respiratory virus now spreads between humans, and it's making its way through Asia.
Yesterday, officials confirmed a case in a Chinese man who landed in Seattle.
Volker Gerdts is watching this closely.
He's the director and CEO of the University of Saskatchewan's Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization and International Vaccine Centre.
He spoke with Saskatoon Morning's Jennifer Quesnel.
