Number of Female Candidates in Federal Elections
Alberta has one of the lowest rates in the country when it comes to electing women to political office. That's what the CBC found when analyzing data on female candidates in federal elections. Ahead of this fall's election, the CBC's Valerie Ouellet and Nael Shiab crunched 100 years worth of numbers. They looked at how many women run and how many get elected, compared to male candidates. Melanee Thomas is professor at the University of Calgary. She reviewed the research.
