Transport Québec and local residents raising safety concerns on Lac Mégantic railways

Transport Canada is raising serious safety concerns about the rail line in the Lac Megantic area. Radio-Canada obtained documents from Transport Canada that were issued to the company that now owns the rail line ((Central Maine and Quebec Railway Company (CMQR) The inspectors report found several "urgent situations" between Megantic and Farnham that require "immediate repair". Rail safety remains a significant concern in the region after a train derailment and explosion devastated killed 47 people six years ago. We speak to Gilbert Carrette, a member of the Lac-Megantic Coalition for Rail Safety.
