Rachel Romu uses her music and modelling careers to advocate for people with disabilities
Rachel Romu is originally from Thunder Bay but now calls Toronto home. We last spoke with Rachel about two years ago when she was starting her modelling career, which fully features her disability rather than try to hide it. Romu was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a rare genetic connective tissue disease. It requires her to use a cane as a mobility aid. One of her goals with modelling was to promote more representation of people with disabilities in the field and other forms of media. Now, Romu has also started a music career...and will play for the first time in the area where she grew up.
