Hitting the powwow trail in Saskatchewan

Blue Sky

It's powwow season and today we were joined by renowned powwow emcee Howie Thomson from Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation, who spends his summers on the powwow circuit. We were also joined by Karalyn Harris and her daughter Skye and Celeste Tootoosis who spoke about the role dancing powwow plays in their lives. We learned about some of the traditions beyond some of the songs and music (singing/drumming) and the sense of family that is created and nurtured during these cultural gatherings.
