Mayors and residents raise concerns about no-construction areas in new flood maps

The provincial government plans to adjust flood maps to better reflect flood risks. But some mayors and residents are not happy with the government's new maps, saying they do not actually reflect flood zones. They say that the Zone D'Intervention Spéciale (ZIS), which bar residents from repairing, rebuilding, and building new homes in areas designated as high-risk flood zones... include more land and properties than necessary. We speak with Guy Pilon, the mayor of Vaudeuil-Dorion; and a resident whose land may be included in the flood map's no-construction zone.
