Women and girls in northern Canada are three times more likely to face violence than those in the south

Statistics Canada has found that in northern communities, women and girls are three times more likely to be involved in violent incidents as their counterparts in the south. That doesn't surprise Gaetane Pharand, the executive director of Centre Victoria Pour Femmes, a sexual assault crisis centre in Sudbury. She spoke about the issue with the CBC's Kate Rutherford.
