Tributes continue to pour in for the late John Rafferty, the former MP for Thunder Bay

Up North

John Rafferty was the the MP for Thunder Bay - Rainy River for seven years. He ran for office a number of times, provincially and federally...and finally got into office in 2008. He was a talk show radio host, as well as a teacher in the northwest...and wanted to be a politican once again, putting his name forward for last year's provincial election. He bowed out of the race though in January of 2018, citing health reasons. Raffery had cancer, and died on June 30. Many across the northwest are taking a moment to reflect on what Rafferty did for the region - and how he put his constituents first -- including David Noonan, the former riding association president for the NDP for Thunder Bay - Superior North.
