UNB law prof explains "Duty to Consult"

The "duty to consult" is considered untouchable in relations between government and First Nations. But what exactly does it mean? Nicole O'Byrne is an associate professor of law at UNB who teaches aboriginal-state relations. She says "the consultation level is very very high" because we don't have land cession treaties in New Brunswick. There needs to be meaningful interactions, agreements, and resource sharing.
