Welcoming newcomers with traditional Québécois music and dance

In recent years, many industries in the MRC de l'Islet have hired workers from across the province, the country, and around the world. Those workers, though, can sometimes feel isolated, even unintentionally segregated from the rest of the community or village they live in. That's why some locals sought funding for a new welcoming committee. In addition to offering more practical guidance and resources, they also try to create events that foster friendships and cultural exchanges, like a traditional music and dance night. CBC's Julia Caron was there on Saturday night, and as the sun began to set, people were coralled into the big windowed gathering space, la Vigie.
