Politicians across the country are sending their congratulations to Alberta's new premier-designate Jason Kenney after the United Conservative Party won a solid majority government over the NDP. The score was 63 seats for the UCP and 25 for the NDP, leaving the province with a two-party-legislature for the first time since 1993. Melanee Thomas is an associate political science professor at the University of Calgary.
