Back The Braid - a new campaign by the raising awareness of the cultural significance of braids

Saskatoon Morning

It's easy to spot the Thompson brothers on the lacrosse field. That's because the four players sport a long braid under their helmets. It's part of their family and cultural tradition. Earlier this year, youngest brother Lyle Thompson was the target of racist taunts at a lacrosse game in Philadelphia. He was harassed by fans and even by the announcer over his braid. Now, all four brothers are responding with a movement called Back the Braid. Jeremy Thompson plays for the Saskatchewan Rush and he spoke with Saskatoon Morning host Leisha Grebinski.
