Advocates in Nova Scotia are pleading for better supports for families who are struggling with mental illness. Last week on the program, we heard the story of Russ and Yanna Conway. Their 24-year-old son Garrett took his own life last year ... hours after being released from a Halifax hospital. To find out how and what decisions are made when a patient arrives at the ER, we turned to the Halifax Infirmary. Dr. Samir Bhalla is an emergency psychiatrist. Dr. Sam Campbell is chief of the hospital's emergency department.
