Panda Love

The Homestretch

Panda Love is in the air at the Calgary Zoo, or at least that's probably how to phrase it to your younger kids. Er Shun, the adult female, is about to start another breeding cycle and that means the team of panda caregivers are getting ready to do everything they can to get her pregnant. During her 5-year stay in Toronto, Er Shun was successfully inseminated -- giving birth to the twins: Jia Panpan and Jia Yueyue. The cubs will head back to China before the end of 2020 and Calgary officials are hoping a new pregnancy will bring brand new baby pandas to our city. Colleen Baird is the manager of Animal Care at the zoo. She joined host Doug Dirks on the line.
