This young volcanic island wasn't expected to last - but it may be around for years

The tiny island of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai, in the South Pacific island nation of Tonga, formed three years ago from settled ash and rock after a shallow water volcanic eruption. Dan Slayback has been tracking its development with satellite imagery for years, and recently got the chance to visit it in person.
