Cafe Daughter

The Homestretch

Lillian Dyck is the first Indigenous woman to be a Canadian Senator. She's also a first generation Chinese-Canadian, and has a PhD in biological psychiatry, among other things. And now, she's the inspiration of a play showing at the High Performance Rodeo. It's called Cafe Daughter -- the coming of age story about a character named Yvette Wong, and her challenges facing racism as a half-Chinese, half-Cree girl growing up in smalltown Saskatchewan in the 1950s. Senator Lillian Dyck, and Workshop West Artistic Director Vern Thiessen join Kathryn.
