Mainstreet Cape Breton

CBRM councillors voted unanimously to release the minutes of four in-camera meetings; but decided against releasing audio tapes of those in camera meetings. Tom Urbaniak is a professor of political science at Cape Breton University. He spoke to us about these in-camera meetings. When are closed door meeting acceptable at the municipal level? Can they decide anything, or do they have to come out of cmera..go public again to make a motion..or can they make motions and vote ont hem in camera? Darren Bruckswagger says municipalities are at a disadvantage because they don't have caucus meetings as provincial and federal elected officials do This municipallllllity has gone to in camera session a number of times....what do you read into that...a secretive council..,Does a municipality need this mechansim? How should we be thinking about this? -30-
