Doors Open YYC 2018: Haultain School

The Homestretch

This weekend dozens of buildings across the city are flinging their doors open so that you can come peak inside. Doors Open YYC is your chance to explore different sites in Calgary. Spots that you might not otherwise have access to. This is perfect if you're interested in architecture, sports, science, history, and just about anything else you can think of. One of the buildings that's opening up to Calgarians for a day is the Haultain School in SW Calgary's Beltline neighbourhood. Built in the mid 1890's, before Alberta was even a province, it has the honour of being Calgary's oldest surviving school. Josh Traptow is the Executive Director of the Calgary Heritage Authority. He also happens to work in the Haultain School building, so he served as a terrific guide for the Homestretch's Jenny Howe.
