Questions on breed-specific bans arise after 50-year old Alberta woman is killed by her own dog

The Homestretch

Two dogs remain under quarantine, after one of them attacked and killed its owner. It happened in Langdon, 30-minutes east of Calgary, on Saturday evening. RCMP say the boxer-pitbull cross initially attacked a two and a half year old girl before turning on the woman. The incident is once again raising questions about pitbulls. Some communities across the country have banned the breed altogether, including the town of Nobleford, Alberta, population: 1400. It introduced the bylaw more than 14 years ago. Don McDowell is the mayor of Nobleford. He spoke with host Doug Dirks.
