Jenny Howe takes a Medicine Walk with Brenda Holder

The Homestretch

Before we had all of our modern pharmaceuticals, many plants were used as medicine. Regular, everyday plants that you might not even look twice at. Indigenous people have known this for hundreds of years and have used plants to treat everything imaginable. Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. And this evening you can go on a medicine walk in Banff The walk is being led by Brenda Holder, a Metis and the owner of a company called Mahikan Trails, which is Cree, means wolf. She took Jenny Howe on a preview of the walk just outside the Banff Centre.
