Pet safety when travelling by air

The Homestretch

The U. S. Department of Transportation is looking into the death of a puppy on board a United Airlines flight this week. The French bulldog died in an overhead bin on a flight from Houston to New York. The puppy's owners say a flight attendant forced them to put their carrier—with their pet in it—inside the overhead bin. United Airlines says it is investigating the incident and is taking "full responsibility for this tragedy." To learn more about what's involved with flying with pets, I've reached Susan Smith. She is the president of Pet Travel Inc, an organization that can tell you everything you need to know about where and how to travel with pets.
