Sisson Mine - Public Consultation - Lois Corbett

Information Morning - Fredericton

It looks like big changes could be coming for the proposed Sisson mine project. The federal department of Environment and Climate Change Canada has called for a public consultation next Thursday, March 15th in Cross Creek. The company behind the project wants amendments made to the regulations governing dumping waste into water. The changes would allow it to use portions of two creeks for disposal of mine waste from the proposed open pit mine. There's also a plan in the works to "compensate for the loss of fish habitat.". No one was available from the federal department to speak with us this morning about the proposed amendments. But Lois Corbett has been going over them in detail. She's executive director of the Conservation Council of New Brunswick. She spoke with Terry Seguin.
