Don’t Let it Expire! 6 Ways To Use Up a Tub of Yogurt

You’ve likely heard it before — Canadians toss 50% of the food they buy, significantly contributing to the over $31 billion of annual food waste in Canada.

Much of what’s thrown away is produce and dairy — milk and yogurt that are nearing or past their best before date. Much of this waste is avoidable; yogurt, for example, is known for multitasking in the kitchen — it can be used in pancakes, waffles and baked goods, used as a dip or marinade or frozen for dessert. Here are six ways to use up that tub before it winds up in the trash.

If you have blueberries: Blueberry Yogurt Scones

Brushed with cream and sprinkled with sugar, these scones are great for breakfast or for a filling snack.

If you have a waffle iron: Multigrain Yogurt Waffles

Top with fruit that needs to be eaten up!

Use leftover yogurt to make muffins! You can also toss in fruit that is on its last legs.
