About the Show

On The Dock is a current affairs program that explores the identity of an Ontario summer. It speaks to people where they spend - or aspire to spend - their long weekends: on the dock.

Tune in to hear stories from every corner of the province where people sit back and relax in their Muskoka chairs (or is it a Laurentian chair? Maybe an Adirondack chair?). From the semantics of summer to the ominous appearance of blue-green algae, join us on holiday Mondays this summer as we explore lakeside life and the issues that come with it.

On The Dock host Megan Thomas has worked as a reporter, host and producer with CBC Radio. She has produced award-winning material for local and national audiences. A transplant to Ontario from the West Coast, Megan has enjoyed exploring the unique culture of an Ontario summer. She is also well acquainted with the concept of the family cottage. Along with her husband, Megan poured blood, sweat, and tears (yes, a few tears) into rebuilding the family cottage. She even got married on the dock and no one dropped the rings in the lake.

On The Dock producer Erik White has worked as a reporter and producer with CBC Radio in Northern Ontario and before that was a newspaper journalist working in Southern Ontario. Like most from the North, Erik also has a strong attachment to the lakeside life. His family purchased a camp (as it's known in Northern Ontario) west of Sudbury when he was just a few months old and he now goes there with his own kids.
