    The Booty Boppin' Brass Band plays high energy New Orleans brass band music, Halifax style: 2nd line drums, driving funk, hip hop and Latin beats and, of course, the Blues!  It's all about impossible horn arrangements, a sousaphone that doesn't stop and fun vocals. Lots of audience participation with folk singing, stomping and playing percussion on stage with the Booties. And there's even some cool choreography.

    Don Connolly and Louise Renault will be out bright and early Friday morning for a live broadcast of Information Morning from the CBC Pavilion. The coffee courtesy of Just Us! will be hot and the music will be entertaining with musical guests Dan McKinnon and  J.P. Cormier.

    Symphony Nova Scotia presents the Tall Ships Orchestra with special guests Old Man Luedecke, David Myles and special guest Rose Cousins. Hear the world premiere of Christopher Palmer's "Ships and Flags" - A 2012 Overture, commissioned by CBC. It will be followed by Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture performed as you've never heard it before in Halifax - complete with cannons, church bells and fireworks. It, quite surely, will be a blast!     Join the celebration of the past, present, and future of ships in the province. Wherever you are, at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 21st, take a moment to ring a bell, bang some cymbals (pots and pans will work), honk your car horn, or give a shout out to celebrate ships in our province.  Your noise-making efforts will coincide with the finale of the Tall Ships Orchestra's performance of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, complete with cannons, church bells and fireworks on the Halifax Waterfront.

    CBC Nova Scotia encourages you to keep your camera handy during your celebrations, and then e-mail your photo or video showing how you celebrated ships in Nova Scotia to cbcnovascotia@cbc.ca.  You could win a $150 gift certificate from CBC Shops.  Some of the entries will be posted on CBC Nova Scotia's Facebook page.

    CBC's Community Pancake Breakfast - DONATION
    Location: CBC Pavilion Broadcast Stage and Main Stage Tents

    We're serving up hot pancakes in a fundraising breakfast for FEED NOVA SCOTIA. Join us early for a live broadcast of Weekend Mornings at 6 a.m. and be first in line for hot pancakes as we start serving at 7:30 a.m. through until 10:30 a.m. Bring a donation, and your entire family.

    CBC in the Community and Kids' CBC Day FREE
    Location: CBC Pavilion Broadcast Stage and Main Stage Tents

    Join us and our community partners for a fun-filled afternoon with activities for the whole family from noon until 5 p.m. Enjoy a musical instrument petting zoo, reading circles with Kids' CBC characters, have your picture taken with a life-size Ron and Don from Hockey Night in Canada or on the red carpet with a fun pirate-themed activity, learn how to do a Cape Breton square set and find yourself in different scenes with the CBC Green Screen.



    Kids' CBC will be there too with the Artzooka! craft zone featuring host Jeremie and appearances by Bo on the Go, Lunar Jim, Fresco del Gecko and Canada!
