Hey Folks,

THE WEEK AHEAD

-High Pressure sinking into NL from the West will help to kick that Weekend system out, but will also keep temperatures cool, with a breezy Northwest Wind for most on Tuesday. Having said that, we'll also see a taste of Sunshine for much of NL on Tuesday.

-That area of High pressure will also keep that once possible Eastern Newfoundland Coastal Snow & Wind Storm well to off to our South tonight into Tuesday.

-For Metro and Eastern Nfld and even into Central, Wednesday will be the nicest day of the week. High pressure just to our South, Winds become light, a taste of Sunshine and temperatures near the freezing mark.

-At the same time, a system approaching from the West will spread light Snow into Southwestern Newfoundland by Wednesday afternoon/evening.

-This system will spread across the Island Wednesday night and into Thursday. At this point, it appears Metro, the Avalon and the Burin Peninsula could see a change to Rain on Thursday with a Southerly flow.

-Early estimate... Snowfall amounts for this Wed/Thursday system appear to be in the 6-12 cm range from Southeastern Labrador and across the Island... with perhaps some in Newfoundland, flirting with 15 cm.

-Things should slowly clear Thursday and into Friday with another small ridge of High pressure... before our next system...

-Early indications are, that a big Low moving into the Maritimes on Friday and into Newfoundland on Saturday, will have an extreme Westerly track... from the Great Lakes, into Quebec and then into Labrador. What does this mean? Well, it means Newfoundland would be into the warm sector of this system, the Southerly flow, the warm temperatures and yes mostly, if not entirely rain.

-True, it's still early in the week and things can change, however we'd have to see a pretty big shift in the forecast models, which for the most part, all have the same idea here.

UPDATE: Well, for you snow lovers out there, I just had to post a quick update. It appears there is still some hope for Snow in Newfoundland this weekend. The latest (Monday afternoon) Canadian forecast model is showing a track far enough Southeast that our Weekend system would drop mostly Snow over the Northwest half of the Island. It's only one run, of one model, for a Storm 5 days out... but you never know! Stay tuned!

-Where ever that Rain/Snow line falls will be important, because just to it's Northwest, we're likely looking at a Significant Snowfall event.

Stay tuned!

Ryan
