si_canadatwitter.jpgFor many Canadians, Twitter has become an essential part of everyday life; a digital space to communicate, express opinions, learn new things and gather information about the world around us.

Like any other social media platform, the Twitter experience is what you make of it -- and a lot of that depends on who you're following.

As we near the end of 2013, we're asking you to tell us which of our country's top tweeters have made the most impact on you over the year.

Perhaps you were dazzled by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield's photographs from space, or the viral Stats Canada parody account's endless jokes. Maybe you were lucky enough to get a retweet from author Margaret Atwood, or a favourite from CBC's own Strombo.

Below are a selection of the users that caught our eyes this year, with input from the CBC Community via Twitter. Rank them in order of your favourites, and then add your own suggestions in the comments section below.

We'll announce the winner of our informal poll next week.
