Assessing contaminated sites in Canada

There are 1,248 contaminated sites in Canada being assessed by federal departments to determine what remediation may be required to clean them up. More than 10,000 sites in total are suspected of contamination or are in the process of being assessed or cleaned up, while another 12,000 sites have already been dealt with, according to data compiled by the Treasury Board Secretariat.
