How each MP voted on Québécois nationhood

Last Updated November 28, 2006

On Nov. 27, 2006, members of Parliament voted on a motion introduced by Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Tories that would recognize the Québécois as a nation within a united Canada.

There are 308 seats in the House of Commons, but two were not filled at the time. Of the rest, 282 MPs voted on the motion, 21 were absent for various reasons, and three chose to abstain.

The motion passed by a margin of 266 to 16.
