I had a lot of relatives
in West Germany that I never knew existed until the Wall came down and we were able to travel.

In my many crossings my documents
were always carefully scrutinized, but I was never hassled or denied passage. That of course did not hold true for the citizens of the German Democratic Republic who envied me.

I speak to my [family] now,
and for them, Germany will always be divided into East and West. Though the Wall is physically gone, it has yet to leave their hearts, minds and memories.
