Tropical storm Patricia weakens over Mexico
Tropical storm Patricia has weakened over Mexico to a remnant low after reaching maximum sustained winds near 45 kilometres per hour early Wednesday.
The downgrade comes a day after officials in Mexico's Los Cabos resorts had closed schools and readied emergency shelters.
The system is expected to further weaken and dissipate in the next day or two.
Patricia's remnants are centred about 25 kilometers east-southeast of Cabo San Lucas and moving west-northwest at nearly nine kilometres per hour.
