NATO soldier killed, 2 wounded in southern Afghanistan
ANATO soldier has been killed and two others have been wounded during an operation in southern Afghanistan, the alliance said Thursday.
NATO is not releasing the nationalities of the soldiers or the exact location where the operation took place.
A Canadian Forces spokesman in Kandahar said no Canadians were involved. Canadian, American, Dutch and British troops are operating in the area.
The latest NATO casualties comejust over a week after six Canadian soldiers and an Afghan interpreter in werekilledby a massive roadside bomb in the southernPanjwaii district, about 20 kilometres southwest of the city of Kandahar.
Roughly 2,500 Canadian soldiers are stationed in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province as part ofthe NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.
Sixty-sixCanadian soldiers and one diplomat have been killed since the mission to Afghanistan started five years ago.
