Mexico braces for tropical storm Henriette
A tropical storm warning was issued Friday for tropical storm Henriette, which has formed off the Pacific coast of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
Tropical storm conditions are expected to affect the area along the coast from Manzanillo to Lagunas de Chacuha.
Henriette may turn into a Category 1 hurricane by Monday morning, CBC meteorologist Joanna Wagstaffe said.
"It's expected to last for around 24 hours before dissipating," she said, adding that the popular tourist destination of Acapulco may receive roughly 200 millimetres of rain over the weekend if the storm stays on its projected path.
The eye of the storm was 125 kilometres southwest of Acapulco on Friday and was travelling at a speed of 17 km/h.
