Canadian soldier injured in explosion west of Kandahar

A Canadian soldier was injured on Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded near an armoured vehicle carrying troops in southern Afghanistan.

A Canadian soldier was injured on Sunday when a roadside bomb exploded near an armoured vehicle carrying troops in southern Afghanistan.

The military said the incident occurred shortly before noon local time in Maywand district, about  45 kilometres west of Kandahar city.

The injured soldier was flown by helicopter to the multinational medical facility at Kandahar Airfield, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.

The military did not release the soldier's name.
