Sky pool suspended between luxury London apartments will let residents swim through the air

The so-called sky pool at London's Embassy Gardens development would bridge two buildings with a transparent floor looking down on the street 10 storeys below.

      Some new concept art for a pool in a luxury condo in London, England is turning heads — directly upward.

      The so-called sky pool at at the Embassy Gardens development would bridge two buildings with a transparent floor looking down on the street 10 storeys below. 

      The pool will be 25 metres long and made out of 20 cm-thick glass panels, with a water depth of about 1.2 metres, according to reports (don't ask about "the deep end").

      By comparison, the CN Tower's glass floor is 6.35 cm thick, at a height of 342 metres.

      A walkway will extend adjacent to the pool, just in case someone on the terrace doesn't want to backstroke over to the other side.

      According to the Guardian, the pool-conjoined towers are part of a giant complex that will include 2,000 luxury flats. Prices are almost as sky-high as the pool itself, starting at £600,000 or $1.2 million.

      It's a joint project between developers Ballymore Goup, designers Arup Associates and HAL architects. Aquarium experts were consulted as part of the design process.

      The experience of the pool will be truly unique, it will feel like floating through the air in central London," Ballymore CEO Sean Mulryan said in a statement. 

      Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and the first units are planned to be finished in 2017. The pool itself isn't expected to be finished until 2018.

      The pool will presumably be suspended over the Embassy Gardens' private grounds, preventing the public (i.e. non-millionaires) from gawking upwards.
