Yangyang, humanoid robot, unveiled at Beijing conference
Creators want Yangyang to help get young people excited about robotics
An eerily humanoid robot shook hands with its human doppelganger Wednesday in front of visitors at a conference in Beijing, China.
Yangyang, the robot, interacted with visitors to the Global Mobile Internet Conference. She shook hands with the public, hugged a woman, and moved her mouth and arms while speaking.
A man at a computer controlled Yangyang from behind-the-scenes. She mimicked his movements.
China's Shanghai Yangyang Intellegent Robot Science Service centre and Japanese professor Hiroshi Ishiguro created Yangyang. They hope Yangyang will help popularize robotics among young people.
