Winklevoss twins accept 2008 Facebook settlement
The Harvard University classmates of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg have decided to pull the plug on the legal battle made famous by the movie, The Social Network.
In a one-paragraph court filing Wednesday, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss say they will now accept a settlement that was worth $65 million when agreed upon in 2008. The twins had gone to court to undo the deal of $20 million in cash and $45 million in Facebook stock.
They had alleged they were misled about Facebook's value when they agreed to settle their lawsuit that claimed Zuckerberg stole their idea to launch Facebook.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the twins, saying they knew what they were agreeing to at the time. The decision yesterday means the twins won't try pressing the issue before the U.S. Supreme Court.
