Nigerian LGBTQ activist seeking U.S. asylum shares his story on World Refugee Day

Edafe Okporo fled his home country of Nigeria in 2016 seeking asylum protection in New York City. Violence and persecution against him in Nigeria for his work as an LGBTQ activist forced him to leave. Now he runs New York City’s only shelter for homeless refugees, and is working to improve life for U.S. asylum seekers. He joins CBC News Network’s Andrew Nichols to discuss his journey.
