Report card: How accountable are the provinces for teacher misconduct?
Unofficial report card based on public documents and access-to-information requests
Compared to other professions involving public trust, there is little information made available about teachers who have been disciplined.
When such information is kept secret, the public has no way of knowing if problem teachers are actually being removed from the classroom, say some critics.
CBC's Marketplace used information the provinces have released, both publicly and through access-to-information requests, in order to create an unofficial report card of accountability.
Visit the Marketplace website for more information about the report card and investigation.
