The Hangover leads MTV award nods
The Hangover has been nominated for six awards at the MTV Movie Awards, outstripping favourites such as Twilight: New Moon and Avatar, which each have five.
The MTV Movie Awards are fan-voted awards that focus on the most popular films and performances.
Hangover stars Zach Galifianakis and Bradley Cooper nabbed nods for best comedic performance, with Galifianakis also named as best breakout star.
Co-star Ken Jeong is nominated in the best villain and best WTF moment for his naked exit from a trunk.
He is competing in the new WTF category with octogenarian actress Betty White, who got the nod for feeling up Sandra Bullock during a wedding dress fitting in The Proposal. White's career has been on a comeback that included a memorable Saturday Night Live appearance last weekend.
Other contenders in the new category include Megan Fox's extreme heaving in Jennifer's Body and Bill Murray's cameo in Zombieland.
The three leads of Twilight: New Moon — Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — are up for global superstar, alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Johnny Depp.
Stewart has two nominations for best kiss, for her smooch with Pattinson in New Moon and with Dakota Fanning in The Runaways.
The Proposal and Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince also are prime favourites with four nominations a piece.
The MTV Movie Awards 2010 hosted by Aziz Ansari are scheduled for June 6.
