Ledger's family 'gifts' estate to actor's daughter
Though late actor Heath Ledger wrote his will before the birth of his daughter, two-year-old Matilda will still inherit her father's estate, Ledger's family told an Australian newspaper.
"There is no claim," the actor's father, Kim Ledger, said in an interview with the Sunday Times.
"Our family has gifted everything to Matilda."
The 28-year-old Brokeback Mountain star died on Jan. 22 from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.
It was later discovered that his will dated from before his girlfriend, actress Michelle Williams, Matilda's mother, had become a part of his life.
He had signed it in 2003, agreeing to leave his estate to his parents and three sisters. It was never updated.
The will lists assets and cash of about $118,000 US, but the newspaper speculated that the actor's estate is now worth more than $16.3 million US.
