Woman jailed for role after murder
A Halifax woman will spend three years in prison for cleaning up a blood-spattered apartment where a man was killed. Thirty-seven-year-old Wanda Lynn Campbell was sentenced on Thursday for being an accessory to a murder after the fact.
In 1998, the Crown says a former Hells' Angels associate was killed in a St. Margaret's Bay Road apartment. William St.Clair Wendleborg's body was later found in a wooded area in Harrietsfield near Halifax.
William Marriott was accused of killing Wendleborg by beating him with a baseball bat and injecting him with drugs. Campbell was found guilty of helping Marriott evade justice by cleaning up the apartment.
Marriott died in jail last August awaiting trial for the murder. A medical examiner's report concluded he hanged himself.
