A Windsor-based solar company has been bought by a provincial power supplier. Unconquered Sun Solar Technologies Inc. was sold to Sarnia-based Bluewater Power Corporation at the beginning of January.

Unconquered Sun manufactures solar products and facilitates renewable energy applications. Sean Moore is the former founder and CEO and is now director of operations.

He said this is the first time a provincial power corporation has purchased a private solar company.

"It speaks to the model that renewable energy is here to stay so it really underpins Unconquered Sun Solar Technologies with the backing that will give it longevity for the next, you know, could be 50 to a hundred years," he said.

Moore says the company will be looking to add five administrative positions in the spring.

"What it means for us is that we'll have great paying jobs around for years to come and if young people are interested in renewable energy, they don't have to necessarily move away, they'll have a company here where they can work or maybe do their co-op terms," he said.
