Transport truck wait times return to normal at Ambassador Bridge
Delays were caused by a computer system failure
A major backup on the Ambassador Bridge that created traffic gridlock for transport trucks heading to the U.S. along Huron Church Road on Wednesday afternoon has cleared.
The delay was caused by a computer system failure, according to officials from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Trucks were backed up past Cabana Road with traffic on some connecting streets also starting to pile up by early evening Wednesday. Vehicles were lined up on Wyandotte Street all the way to Campbell Avenue.
"We are experiencing some national system issues and are doing everything we can to minimize the local impact," explained Ken Hammond, spokesperson for U.S. Customs.
The wait times returned to normal around 4 a.m. with only a 20-minute wait for trucks as of 5 a.m.
