One-hundred-year-old barn gutted by fire

A 100-year-old barn sustained an estimated $300,000 damage in Tecumseh this morning. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Investigators are looking into the cause of a fire in Tecumseh that gutted a 100-year-old barn today.

The fire broke out at 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning in the 1700 block of Lesperance Road.

Firefighters shut down access to the road for several hours.

The owners, a retired couple from Tecumseh, used the structure to store vintage motorcycles and cars they had been collecting over the course of their lives. 

Damage has been estimated at $300,000.

There were no injuries reported.
