Little Foot Foods co-owner Rachael Myers explains how their signature perogies are made.

"I didn't really want to work in an office — and the only skill I had outside of textbooks was cooking."

That is the simple reason why Rachael Myers and her husband Rob started Little Foot Foods in 2013. The Windsor-based company sells a variety of comfort foods through local stores, farmers' markets and home delivery.

Their signature item is a Polish-style perogy. Classics like potato, cheddar and sauerkraut are offered, but it goes far beyond that. More than a dozen varieties of fillings are available, including habenero, pumpkin pie, and "sunrise", a breakfast perogy that features ham and egg.

The Riverside couple also creates limited edition perogies for local restaurants that involve fillings such as blue cheese and sweet potato and even kangeroo meat.

But it's not just the fillings that make Little Foot perogies unique. Click on the audio player to find out more.

This week, Jonathan introduced us to Little Foot Foods, a Windsor company taking the humble perogy to a whole new level.

Ready for some perogies?

You can find a couple of varieties of Little Foot perogies at Robbie's Gourmet Sausage Company in Walkerville, and at the Manning Road location of Dressed by an Olive in Tecumseh. You'll also find Little Foot Foods at local events and markets.

However, the best way to try these perogies is to sign up for a delivery. That way, you can have your pick of fillings. Deliveries are made on Wednesday and Saturday every week. Two days notice is required.

You can order perogies by the dozen, or opt for a sampler pack, which also includes a few of their other foods, such as cabbage rolls and cheddar cheese biscuits.

To place an order, call (226) 246-2382 or visit their website.
