The $1.4-billion Herb Gray Parkway is now open to traffic — for at least eight kilometres, anyway.

Eastbound and westbound lanes opened sometime after midnight Monday, according to tweets from the parkway's official Twitter account.

The rest of the 11-kilometre parkway is expected to be finished later this year.
