Hôtel-Dieu Grace discouraging visits in light of flu
Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare is issuing an influenza alert Tuesday evening and are discouraging any visits after one case was confirmed and several others are being monitored.
Hôtel-Dieu Grace is asking anyone with a cold or flu-like symptoms such as fever, runny nose, cough or muscle aches, to not visit the hospital until the symptoms are gone. Visitors to the Emara building (formerly the Malden Park building) will be asked to wear a mask as well as any patients who leave the unit.
Hôtel-Dieu Grace vice-president for planning and development Bill Marra told CBC's Windsor Morning people should stay away from the 2 South and 3 North units.
"We certainly want to acknowledge the wishes of family members if they insist on visiting. However, we're going to actively discourage visits. We'll do our best to support the folks over a brief period of time if they can't visit with loved ones," said Marra.
Anyone entering these areas will be required to wear a surgical mask.
Marra says they're awaiting test results on several suspected cases of the flu.
